Uptown Radio & London FM

Here are a couple more FM stations from the London area from the early 80s. Uptown Radio used to broadcast every Sunday evening. I used to enjoy their entertaining shows and their signal used to come in well at my QTH just outside London. There is more about Uptown on the Surrey Sounds website. Radio Apollo Int

Radio Apollo Int is another British free radio station from the early 80s. Among those involved in Apollo was Dave Scott, who can now be heard on Radio Geronimo Shortwave. Here are a couple of recordings of Apollo.

Britain Radio Int

BRI is celebrated its 30th year of broadcasting in 2010. But nothing has been heard from BRI for many years although Roger Davis is sometimes heard on FRS Holland. But here is how the station sounded in its early days. The address, of course, is no longer is use.

Here is a station from the 80s from the FM band. There were more weekend pirates around on FM in those days playing a wider variety of music than you get on FM in London now. Here is a short clip of West London Radio (sorry about the audio).

Radio Mundial 82/Alternative Radio Tirana

With the World Cup on at the moment in South Africa, it seemed a good time to look back to 1982 and a pirate station called Radio Mundial 82 which celebrated the World Cup of that year, held in Spain.

Following on from this recording is a spoof station called Alternative Radio Tirana, taking the mick out the shortwave station Radio Tirana - at that time the voice of the Stalinist regime that ruled Albania.
