Radio Pluto

Not the Dutch station currently on air, but a UK station of the same name from the early 80s, heard here signing off.

  1. I freely admit, this is me. Just out of my teens, I persuaded my parents to allow me and my transmitter to accompany them to a holiday cottage in Dorset. I had assiduously pre-recorded my shows on cassette but on the day the flippin' cassette player didn't work. More successful transmissions emanated from the Brecon Beacons district of Wales, the only trouble being when a large vamn with a huge ariel stopped outside the rented cottage and some burly blokes banged the door with some force. Fearing a DTI raid I hastily disassembled the transmitter. Unnecessarily, it turned out. They were local farmers wanting to cut the hedge. Most of our broadcasts came from my native East Anglia, 1981-1984. Mark.
